TIPS ON SAVING TIME

There are many ways to create more time for yourself. If you are always running late, putting things off, working during your lunch hour, not spending enough time with your family or friends, the below tips should help.

Plan Each Day: Before you go to sleep, or first thing in the morning, write down all the things you need to do for the day. This will keep you focused and save you time.
Pockets of Time: Often during the day, you may have a spare five minutes, such as on the train to and from work, or waiting for an appointment. Make the most of this space by jotting down things you need to plan or prepare for, such as a dinner party, weekend away or paying a bill.
Invest Time: Buying a single birthday card, for example, can be very time consuming so when you see some cards you like, buy a few of them as they will always come in handy when the next special occasion arises. Keep all your cards in a drawer, preferably labeled ‘birthday, anniversary, good luck, and so on. Other ways to invest your time are planning a trip in advance, often saving you money and booking your next hair appointment when you are at the salon to save you having to make a call later.
Managing Paperwork: De-clutter your paperwork and then section the necessary paper into a simple labeled filing system. Have everything in one place so you can easily find it.
Price Comparison Websites
www.pricecomparison.com
Compare prices of products such as books, food, wine, computers, home and garden, health and beauty, electronics, travel, sport and fitness all under one website and read their reviews.  A must in saving time!
www.uswitch.com
Save time by using this website which is a free, impartial online and phone based comparison and switching service that helps customers compare prices on a range of services including gas, electricity, home phone, broadband providers and personal finance products.

Making the most of your IT: If you use a home computer and have Microsoft Office or a similar software package, there are systems in place which allow you to manage your time more easily such as adding tasks, setting reminders and diarising events. You can set recurrences on your reminders so that you are reminded as frequently as you wish. For example, yearly MOT, 6 monthly dental check ups, weekly online shopping.
Manage distractions: The television can be a distraction as once switched on, it can be hard to turn off and you can end up watching programs you never usually watch. Go through the TV guide and decide what you would like to view and then leave the remaining time to catch up with your family / friends, enjoy an evening meal together or simply make a ‘to do list’ for the following day. Alternatively, use the time to do some exercise as this is very important in keeping a healthy mind and body.
Reduce Junk Mail: The Mail Preference service will reduce the amount of junk mail you receive through your door which clogs up your recycling bags. Simply register your details at www.mpsonline.org.uk.
De-Clutter: Spend a day or weekend de-cluttering your home and taking unwanted items to the tip or charity shop. This will give you an enormous sense of achievement, free up your home and allow you to focus on more enjoyable things.
Food Shopping: Buy in bulk and take advantage of reduced fresh meats for example which can be frozen up to one month. This will reduce the number of trips to the supermarket, allowing more time to relax. Alternatively buy online and have your shopping delivered to your home.
